MASKS FOR THE COMMUNITY

2DF4DDAF-13A3-429F-920F-F3FC11161C59-CE8

To help keep us all safe, the Government has announced that from Thursday 19 November 2020 a face covering must be worn whilst on-board public transport in. This change means that even under Alert Level 1 it is now mandatory for everyone over the age of 12 to wear a face covering while on public transport.

For many in the South Auckland Community who rely heavily on public transport, it is not affordable to purchases masks or the material to create their own. So far 1400 handmade masks have been distributed to the community in 2021. We are asking our generous donors to continue making or donating masks to help our vulnerable families have an extra layer of protection.

If you are unable to sew but would like to support our families in need, monetary donations are also greatly appreciated. A $20 donation will provide our whaanau with 10 reusable masks. You can also purchase reusable masks and get them delivered to our office.

(We are happy to accept masks created using different patterns/guidelines as long as they are two or three layers and pass the blow test - indicating the individual would be unable to blow out a candle whilst wearing the mask)
