Anais, 18 and Angelina, 17, give up their Saturdays to bring smiles and fun to our littlest patients. They love volunteering at Kidz First, finding the experience rewarding and a glimpse into the world of medicine, where they both dream of working. They support the Kidz First team wherever they can, from sorting jammies to getting crafty with the kids.
Anais' journey at Kidz First holds a personal connection. Anais was once a patient herself at Kidz First and has spent a significant amount of time at the hospital over the years.. This unique perspective has fueled her desire to give back, as she appreciates the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the chance to meet new people, and the opportunity to assist those in need. Anais' dream is to pursue a medical career, with a particular focus on Emergency Department Paediatrics.
One of the most rewarding aspects of her volunteer work, Angelina shares, is interacting with the children. She says she has met some truly amazing kids during her time at Kidz First and has even picked up a few magic tricks from them. Angelina finds joy in taking some of the stress off the staff's shoulders and says its important to her to spend her time doing something valuable. Angelina will be studying Health Science next year at university and has set her sights on surgery.
Play Specialist Gloria is enthusiastic in her praise for both Anais and Angelina. She describes them as incredibly helpful and notes that they have a remarkable way of connecting with the children at Kidz First. Gloria emphasizes the gratitude the staff have for their support.
