Every winter many South Auckland babies and children are admitted to Kidz First Children's Hospital with respiratory illnesses. Cold and overcrowded housing can transform a mild cold into a serious illness that requires hospital care.
People who are talented with knitting needles or a crochet hook can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable tiny tots. Beanies, booties, mittens, blankets, vests and woolly jumpers in machine washable wool or acrylic are perfect.
We also accept donations of larger knitted mittens and blankets for our older children in the community,
Donations of balls of wool are greatly appreciated. Our knitters really enjoy knitting for us, but for some the cost of wool may not fit in their budget.
- Please sew your booties together. You do not need to stuff your booties or use pins
- We do not collect knitting for prem babies as they are kept warm in incubators.
If you are unable to donate knitted goods, you can kindly give a monetary donation to help us buy wool for our knitters to knit for the babies and children at Kidz First Children's Hospital.
