Jumper for Jumper Launched to Help Tamariki Stay Warm this Winter

In 2019, more than 150,000 Kiwi kids lived through winter without access to essential needs including warm clothes and food. These children have been affected further in 2020 with COVID-19 making their situation more difficult than ever, particularly now as we approach winter.

Standard Issue has combined their compassion and skill to create a “Jumper for Jumper” initiative to help our vulnerable tamariki in South Auckland stay warm this winter.

Many children in South Auckland live in impoverished living conditions, so it is important we can support them with as much warmth as we can, to help prevent them from falling ill. Together with Standard Issue we can help those in need in the community.

For every jumper bought from Standard Issue, they will donate another jumper to Middlemore Foundation to gift to a child in need to help them fight the cold this winter. If you do not want to purchase a jumper for yourself, you may also gift one for $30.00. Standard Issue started this initiative understanding that small changes can have a powerful impact. A warm jumper can help prevent a child from being hospitalised with preventable illnesses as we approach our coldest months.

Standard Issue is a sustainable New Zealand brand who produce durable, timeless knitwear. The jumpers are made 100% renewable, natural fibres and a knitting technology that creates zero waste, all the way from the design to the finishing product. These jumpers are both ecological and warm, ensuring they will last for many winters to come – the perfect, essential item for a child in need.

For many of these children, this may be the first personal item they have owned before that isn’t a hand me down. This is a great way to build up your winter wardrobe with a new knit, but also donate a brand new one to a child in need who would greatly benefit from this extra layer of warmth.

With your help, we can change the odds in South Auckland and create better, healthier lives for our tamariki.
