Pacific representation in our health workforce is growing

Earlier this year, One News reported on the growing number of Pasifika doctors entering New Zealand's health workforce – and the years of sacrifice behind each one. It's a heartening reminder of the real, tangible impact that initiatives like the Pacific Health Science Academy are having on our communities.

Middlemore Foundation works closely with the Academy as part of our Pacific Workforce Development programme. Graduates of the Academy are eligible to receive scholarships and cadetships through our fund, helping support them on their journey into a career in health – whether that's nursing, medicine, or one of the many other pathways our health system relies on.

This work matters because representation matters. Pasifika patients and whaanau benefit from a health workforce that reflects and understands their communities, and every graduate the Academy supports into a health career is a step toward that.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors, who have backed the Pacific Workforce Development programme over many years. Thank you for helping create real, lasting change in our health workforce.
