Kidz First patients and their families had a blast last week as Dave Letele brought the Warriors for a visit to kick off Kidz First Christmas!
Before heading to Kidz First Hospital, the day started at Kidz First Community, where Dave and The Warriors joined occupational, physical, and speech therapy sessions - a cornerstone of Kidz First Community’s work. Tailored for children under five, these sessions provide critical support for children and their caregivers. The visit shone a spotlight on the challenges and resilience of families caring for children with disabilities and complex health needs. Seven Sharp joined the fun, and you can catch their coverage here.
Kidz First Community services support more than 14,000 South Auckland children with complex health needs each year. Through in-home visits and outpatient clinics, a dedicated team of paediatricians, nurses, social workers, and specialists takes a holistic approach to care. Through the generosity of donors, Middlemore Foundation provides vital support to Kidz First Community, offering resources such as mobility aids and home safety kits to ensure tamariki have the tools they need to thrive.
This year’s Kidz First Christmas Campaign builds on that same spirit of care and generosity, ensuring every child feels the magic of the season and the ongoing support they need year-round. "Christmas is a huge day for kids, and we want to make sure none of them miss out—not just on Christmas Day but throughout the year," says Letele. "If you can help, let’s do this together."
