Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, Kidz First Christmas once again brought

magic, warmth, and joy to thousands of tamariki and their whaanau. This year, the celebrations were extra special with Kidz First champion, Dame Valerie Adams, joining our team to spread festive cheer.

Kidz First cares for up to 6,000 children who are in hospital or living with long-term health conditions. For those spending the holidays in hospital, Christmas can be an especially challenging time; but thanks to our supporters, the wards were transformed into a wonderland of fun. Play specialists, staff, and volunteers brought TV characters, Warriors players, fairies, face painters, carollers, and Santa himself, delivering gifts and creating moments of pure joy.

The celebrations extended beyond the hospital walls. The Kidz First Community Team delivered toys directly to children with acute health conditions at home, and over 300 tamariki and their whānau attended the Kidz First Christmas Party- filled with dancers, balloons, food carts, and laughter. For families navigating life-preserving equipment and complex health needs, this day offered something rare: a space where every child is welcomed just as they are.

Every whānau also received a Pak’nSave voucher and toys for all their children, easing financial pressures and bringing smiles that will last well beyond the festive season. Your generosity truly made these moments possible, and we are deeply grateful for every donation, toy, and story shared.

From all of us at Kidz First and Middlemore Foundation, thank you for helping make this Christmas unforgettable. Your support changes lives every day, and we can’t wait to continue making a difference with you in 2026.
