Warriors bring jammies and joy to Kidz First

Updated: May 25, 2023

Warriors Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Marcelo Montoya, Freddy Lussick, and Viliami Vailea were a hit this week in the Kidz First playroom as they brought jammies and afternoon tea in support of our annual Jammies for June campaign.

Charnze said "It's been so nice to come and give these kids something that, hopefully, puts a smile on their faces". It was clear this was achieved as patients were beaming while painting and playing games with the players. The players were careful to spend time with everyone there, autographing balls for the kids and hearing more about the winter illnesses affecting them from parents and medical staff.

The Warriors have been supporting Jammies for June since the beginning, donating jammies every year and shining a light on the campaign in support of Kidz First patients. It was great to see them back in the Kidz First playroom this week after COVID had hit pause on pyjama parties.

Margi Mellsop, CEO of the Middlemore Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the Warriors' involvement, stating, "It was truly wonderful to have the Warriors back at Kidz First. Their presence brought immense joy to our youngest patients and the Kidz First clinical team. We deeply appreciate the support of this incredible national team from South Auckland in our Jammies for June initiative."
